Edmonton Area Executive Directors, join your peers in a casual atmosphere where leaders can connect, learn, and break down those pesky silos that persist in the sector.

Wine & Wisdom is your chance to network with fellow Executive Directors & CEOs and to exchange insight and stories about your experiences in the nonprofit sector. Wine & Wisdom is built on the belief that regular networking is essential to creating a strong non-profit sector and affecting change in our communities.

Each ED Networking Night sees different local Executive Directors or CEOs take the stage to lead our topic of discussion. It keeps the hosts fresh, the perspectives fresher, and gives everybody an opportunity to take charge of the evening!

Don't miss this opportunity to join your peers in a comfortable atmosphere and pick their brains on the issues leaders face in the non-profit sector!

The Discussion

The topic at hand for June's edition is Board Relationships. How does one maintain a positive and productive relationship with their board through thick and thin?

The Speakers

MEAGHAN PATTERSON is the Executive Director of the Alberta Museums Association (AMA), which represents more than 600 members across Alberta. During her tenure as Executive Director, Meaghan has overseen innovative projects including the Museum Flood Funding Program and the AMA’s sustainability and climate change initiatives.

Meaghan holds a Master of Arts in Russian History from the University of Alberta and was part of Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity’s inaugural Cultural Leadership Program. Her work focusses on creating opportunities for museums of all types to thrive and to challenge traditional ways of thinking.

CORY HODGSON earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Alberta in 2014. His background is in community and student organizing, and he developed a passion for non-profits through a variety of volunteer work. He returned to campus in 2017 to become the Executive Director of the Campus Food Bank, where he has been working to broaden the scope of the organization to better meet the needs of students.

"People talk about bike riding when they want to remind us that some things, once learned, are not forgotten. What they don't mention is how we learned. No one learns to ride a bike from a book, or even a video. You learn by doing it. Actually, by not doing it. You learn by doing it wrong, by falling off, by getting back on, by doing it again."
