Five sessions focused on creating a healthy workplace fit for the new normal.

The nature of work is changing rapidly, and fundamentals like human resources are evolving with it. COVID-19 has left our workplaces more distant and disconnected. Managing new dynamics and interpersonal relationships can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be!

Join human resources expert Barb Read for five 90-minute workshops that explore crucial topics in navigating human resources in an evolving work world. From diversity and inclusion principles and managing staff mental health to creating a respectful workplace and accommodating work from home, this series will help boost your human resources capacity in a time when it's vital to keep your team healthy and connected.

This series is for you if:

  • you are managing your organization's HR functions but do not have a professional HR background (“HR off the side of their desk”)
  • you are a non-profit Executive Director, manager, supervisor who needs more knowledge around basic HR (to manage risk)
  • you are a manager or frontline supervisor who is responsible for managing employee performance
  • you are a new HR professional (0-3 years in HR) who wants to add practical skills to your education
  • you would like to learn more about how to effectively manage people resources
Please note: registration is for the full series. Individual sessions are not available. These sessions will be recorded and made available to participants. Please indicate if you need additional accessibility support by contacting emma@ecvo.caemma@ecvo.ca.

ECVO members enjoy exclusive member pricing.  To become a member, contact membership@ecvo.ca.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Session 1: Diversity & Inclusion – Tuesday, March 1 @ 11:30am - 1:00pm
Creating an inclusive workplace involves minimizing systemic barriers. In this session, you will learn how to clear any hidden barriers to hiring “diverse employees” through new processes and tools.

Session 2: Managing Mental Health – Tuesday, March 8 @ 11:30am - 1:00pm
In this session, you will learn strategies to navigate mental health in the midst of a pandemic, including how to identify stress responses and recognize symptoms of burnout.

Session 3: Motivation at Work – Tuesday, March 15 @ 11:30am - 1:00pm
In a hybrid working environment, it is more important than ever to be able to assess your employee’s motivation (vs. ability) while also applying different techniques that reward and recognize team members….you will receive some great motivation takeaways from this session!

Session 4: Respect in the Workplace – Tuesday, March 22 @ 11:30am - 1:00pm
It is difficult to know exactly what is considered acceptable behaviour in the workplace these days, especially when there has been a history of power imbalances and emerging diversity, equity, and inclusion topics. Please join us to learn more about the spectrum of respect and when behaviours begin to “cross the line” into disrespectful and potentially harassing behaviours.

Session 5: Telecommuting Expectations & Engagement – Tuesday, April 5 @ 11:30am - 1:00pm
In this session, we will discuss three “Cs” that will support telecommuting in your workplace…but this is not just for telecommuting – it can be used for those that work from the office or on-site.
