The pandemic and the world's reckoning with white supremacy and systemic racism highlight the importance of the nonprofit and philanthropic sector.
At the same time, we are often complicit in the very inequity we are trying to fight. Let’s reimagine a sector aligned with its purpose. How would we fundraise differently? What might philanthropy, leadership, hiring, communications, board governance look like? What difficult conversations must we have, and what must we be willing to give up, to move away from the white moderation Dr. King warned us about, and create the just and equitable world we all envision?
The Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations is committed to building the social justice muscle needed to transform the non-profit community. We therefore invite you to attend the third session in our ongoing speaker series intended to explore how alternative systems of knowledge might be used to reimagine how we structure and run our organizations.
This session is a collaboration between ECVO and the Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations, and is a keynote presentation in this year's Connections Conference.
