It's one of the most important developments for Canada's non-profits in recent memory. Join us in examining the recent report from the Senate Special Committee on the Charitable Sector.

In June 2019, the Government of Canada released Catalyst for Change: A Roadmap to a Stronger Charitable Sector, the product of recent Canadian-wide consultation with non-profits and charities. Its 42 recommendations set a roadmap for a much healthier and more resilient future for the charitable sector. But what should non-profit boards be focused on now?

Join us for an important discussion about what the Senate report could mean for you and your non-profit and learn how boards can advocate for the report's recommendations. This is a great opportunity to get to know the report, get to know other boards, and add your thoughts to the discussion. Any board member from an Edmonton-based non-profit or charity is encouraged to attend.

The charitable and non-profit sector has suffered from benign neglect for too long. Legal rules have been reformed in a piecemeal fashion; task force recommendations have gone unimplemented; and kind words have all too often served as a substitute for meaningful action.
